Speckled Heifer Cream Ale – All-Grain Beer Recipe Kit

Speckled Heifer is our faithful, all-grain tribute to the Midwest’s most famous cream ale—Spotted Cow. This Spotted Cow clone kit features American 2-row malt, flaked barley, and flaked maize to deliver a crisp, slightly sweet beer with a clean finish. A whisper of Cluster hops keeps it light and refreshing—true to the original's easy-drinking roots.

This cream ale homebrew kit pours a straw-gold pint with a snowy white head and a soft malt aroma touched by corn sweetness. Whether you’re sipping on the porch or sharing at a cookout, Speckled Heifer is the perfect “beer-flavored beer” to keep stocked in your fridge.

Style Background – Cream Ale (BJCP 1C)

Originally brewed as a warm-fermented alternative to pale lagers, Cream Ale is a uniquely American hybrid style. These beers are light in color, moderate in alcohol, and often brewed with corn or rice to lighten the body. Low bitterness, subtle hop flavor, and clean fermentation make them endlessly drinkable. Speckled Heifer captures all of that, offering homebrewers a satisfying Midwestern-style cream ale experience.
